Great.... but disappointing...

Elected last November in Las Vegas by associate members as the carnival industry's IAFE Director at Large, I found the recent board meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah a pleasant experience. The treatment from President Jim Tucker, his staff, the other directors and the attending IAFE members was great.

After the board meeting I spent three days at the conference and attended various workshops to get a feel for their trade organization. I was impressed. It seems they are facing about as many challenges as the outdoor, mobile amusement industry. The difference is they are working together to solve them. Other than the OABA, our industry tends to go it alone.

Maybe that’s the reason not one person in our industry asked me to convey the challenges facing them to the other directors... Disappointing... what a lost opportunity. You have a representative to present your views. Take advantage of it.

To end this short article on an upbeat thought, I wonder what we could accomplish if we had a 3-day meeting with everyone in our industry invited to solve the many challenges we face together?
