government affairs | OABA PAC

The OABA leaders in the early '70's saw the need for having a unified voice for the Outdoor Amusement industry in Washington, DC. They initiated the OABA-PAC and they, along with others, gave up to $1,000, each from their personal bank accounts to reach $100,000. When founding the OABA-PAC, it was their intent to use the interest funds generated on this amount to help political election campaigns for those legislators who listened to our advocacy issues.

Your voluntary personal contribution to the OABA's Political Action Committee (PAC) will help ensure the mobile amusement industry has a strong voice in our nation's capital and in some states. By joining forces with your fellow OABA members through the PAC, you can maximize our industry's political clout and help ensure that what is being legislated is productive to your business interests. Contributions go directly to helping pro-business candidates win elections to Congress and in some cases, state political elections.

Regulated by the Federal Election Commission, the OABA PAC discloses where every penny of each personal dollar is contributed, and all of these contributions go directly to candidates running for the U.S. House or Senate. The OABA PAC Committee is authorized by the Board to give up to $1,000 per candidate annually. PACs are allowed to contribute a maximum of $5,000 to a candidate per election. PAC funds are maintained as separate funds from the OABA's general fund, with applicable taxes paid annually on interest, etc. The Treasurer reports to the Board periodically on the status and distribution of these funds.

Issues such as federal visa programs (H2B), OSHA and DOT regulations are just some of reasons the OABA would use its PAC to support legislators that listen to our concerns and work with our stated position on specific issues to help the mobile amusement industry.

Individuals may contribute to the OABA PAC by writing a personal check, made payable to the OABA-PAC. Contributions may be any amount up to $5,000 per year. Then simply mail it to the OABA office in Winter Park, Florida. The OABA will recognize your contribution in our publications and you will receive a letter from the President of the OABA-PAC thanking you for this donation. Federal law prohibits the solicitation of contributions to the OABA PAC from outside the OABA's restricted class (i.e., OABA members, staff, and their families). Such contributions will be returned to the donor.

The OABA-PAC is an investment in your future. Your voluntary donation does make a difference!
