Showman Robert “Bob” Kissel Passes
Mr. Robert "Bob" Ralph Kissel, age 82, of near Canaan, Indiana, entered this life on September 8, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of the late Ralph F. and Olga A. Schinkel Kissel. In 1942, a family business was established by the name of Kissel Brothers Amusement Company in Cincinnati. The family business quickly became Bobs way of life. He enjoyed wooden horse carousels and would purchase merry-go-round equipment and resell the wooden horse carousel parts. Bob had a large love for dogs. It didn't matter how many strays needed a home, he accommodated them. Bob resided in the Cincinnati area until 1994 when he moved to a farm near Canaan, Indiana. He was a member of the Greater Ohio Showmen's Association and the International Independent Showmen's Association. He enjoyed attending Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany every year to expand his knowledge of the family amusement ride business. Bob will be missed by his niece, Linda Caldwell and her husband, William "Bill" of Cincinnati, Ohio; his nephews, Michael Grein and his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" of Cincinnati, Ohio, David Grein and his wife, Rhonda of Cincinnati, Ohio; his great-nieces and nephew, Kirby, Shelby and Bryce Grein. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph F. Kissel and mother, Olga A. Schinkel Kissel; his sister, Shirley Kissel Grein, passed away in 2002 and her husband, Harold "Butch" Grein; his brother, Arthur Kissel passed away in 1981. Bob died on Monday, March 26, 2018, at 9:15 p.m., at the The Water's of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana.
